AARP - Not a Friend to Seniors!

Seniors need to be aware of the high cost of doing business with AARP  (formerly the American Association of Retired Persons). I'm citing an AARP member of 14 years who had auto insurance through them (Hartford) for about seven years. He said that every year the cost went up, even though he didn't have any claims. And, when he called them they just shrugged it off as "costs are going up by other companies as well". When he checked out other (major) insurance companies, he found that he had  been paying 30%-40% more for the same coverage.

He also checked AARP for life insurance and found they were much higher than some other reputable companies. Again, AARP is taking advantage of seniors who believe they are getting a good deal because it is AARP. So, the lesson here is do your homework and check other reputable companies. You will save a lot of money. AARP is not what it used to be many years ago - a friend of seniors.

Let's discuss health care, specifically the Obama Healthcare Plan. Did you know that AARP wholly supported his plan? AARP receives millions in federal funds and hopes to get even more under his plan.  Since Medicare doesn’t pay for all of the costs of hospital and medical care, a supplement plan is needed to help pay for some of these costs. Can you say - AARP Medigap? They hope to rack in big bucks. AARP is showing its true colors. It does not represent seniors but Big Government.
